At White Moth, you will find what sets the studio apart is not only skill, but also the creative and intuitive approach to building the perfect natural style brow. While no two persons are the same, each set is carefully handcrafted and tailored to embrace and empower your unique individual beauty.

The perfect brow

an embodiment of an effortlessly more polished but natural you.

Setting the bar.

White Moth uses modern and innovative techniques to create brows with soft definition and natural movement. With these techniques, we are able to brighten, lift, and balance your features, leaving you looking more awake and refreshed. Simplifying your everyday beauty routine has never been easier!

Although each set is approached differently, the goal is to enhance your brows based on your overall facial structure, natural hair growth pattern, and personal preferences. It is important to understand that different skin types and lifestyles will be a factor in what type of brow is best suited for you. Not all clients will be suitable for microblading. It is my intention to create an end product that not only has integrity but one that will also last and age gracefully.

The techniques.

As the industry grows, so does the standard for top techniques. While each technique renders a different result, all are capable of looking super natural and undetectable when executed properly. Using a technique that is not suitable for your skin type can result in an undesirable outcome. Not only is it important to create a brow that will age beautifully, but its also important to take the best care of your skin in the process. As your artist, integrity is everything.

How do the techniques differ?

Along with personal preference, skin type and lifestyle will play a large role in which technique is best for you. There are four different techniques that are offered in studio.

  • Machine hairstroke . Nano . Hyperrealism

  • Soft shading . Airy powder

  • Microblading

  • Combination technique . Hair strokes & soft shading

  • Machine hairstroke brows also referred to as Nano brows or Hyperrealism

Executed with machine only, tiny hair like strokes are created to give a soft, airy and fuller looking brow. Machine hair stroke is suitable for all skin types where as microblading is only recommended for a certain skin type. It is a highly detailed technique that delivers a very soft, natural, fluffier, hyper realistic dimensional look.

  • Airy powder brows also referred to as a Soft shaded or Shadow brow

Executed with machine only, tiny pixels of pigment are implanted into the skin to create a sheer, soft, shadow look. This technique is customizable to your preference, an airy powder brow can very soft and diffused or it can be a bit more on the defined side. Both are still very natural looking.

  • Microblading

A manual form of tattooing that creates a thin hair like stroke by implanting pigment into the skin.

  • Combination brow also referred to as hairstrokes and shading

Exactly how it sounds! A combination of two techniques, either machine hairstroke or microblading is combined with shading to give a more dimensional, fuller looking brow. Using the two together creates an incredibly natural looking and effortless brow!

Appointment walkthrough.

When you come in for an appointment, we always start with an in depth consultation where we discuss your goals, preferences, expectations and what we are able to offer you. We go over shape, style, color, and the techniques that are best suited for your specific skin type. After our consultation, the process for shaping starts by marking certain points on your face to create a guide for where things should start, transition, and end. We will proceed to draw a set of brows based on your facial structure while also keeping in mind your personal preferences. Measurements will also be taken to ensure they are symmetrical.

After suggested shaping is complete, you will view drawing for your thoughts and input. We will go over the shape and work together to make any changes necessary to reach a brow you are happy with. Once we reach desired shape, we begin drawing in a guide of hair strokes to give you an idea as to what you can expect your new brows to look like. This part is not necessary if you are going with a powder brow. Moving forward, color will be chosen together based off of your brow hair and your skin tone. It is important to know your skin acts as a filter and that all brows must have some degree of warmth as they are healing to avoid an overly ashy brow once healed. Once we have chosen the color, we will start tattooing. You can expect the whole process to take between 3-3.5 hours. Mandatory 8 week touch up appointments and Refreshers are similar to the initial appointment but less in-depth. Timing will depend on the retention rate but generally takes less time to complete.

Healing your tattoo.

Taking proper care of your new brows during healing will greatly contribute to your overall healed results. Failure to follow aftercare during healing will result in poor retention and may result in needing additional touch ups at an additional charge. To ensure you have the best healed outcome, you must follow all pre-care and aftercare instructions given.

Plan your appointment accordingly, be sure to plan around any vacations and events. You will not be able to get your brows wet for the first 10 days of healing.

Preparing for your appointment.

Precare instructions

  • Please take a break from any exfoliating anti aging/ anti acne products (retinoids, glycolics, vitamin c, AHA/ BHA, enzyme washes, serums, etc) near and around your brow area at least 2 weeks prior to your session and 2 weeks after for best healed results.

  • Please refrain from any treatments such as lasers, peels, waxing, botox, etc at least three weeks prior to your brow appointment and at least three weeks after.

  • You MUST be off accutane for at least 1 year prior to your brow appointment.

  • Please refrain from coffee, alcohol or blood thinning medications at least 24 hours before your brow appointment.

  • Skin should be healthy, non irritated and sunburn free for best results.

  • Do not exercise day of appointment.

After your appointment.

After care instructions

  • Wash your hands thoroughly before touching tattooed area.

  • Wipe brows with provided wet cotton rounds within one hour after tattooing. Immediately after wiping, rinse brows with warm water and pat dry with the provided dry cotton rounds. If you have normal/dry skin type you will moisturize brows with provided healing ointment after you've rinsed and dried your brows. If you have oily skin type, you will not be given ointment. You will rely on your natural oils for healing.

  • Keep tattooed area clean and dry for 10 days. If you have been given ointment, you will apply a very small amount to the tattooed area every morning for 14 days. If no ointment has been given, you will be doing a complete dry heal for the next two weeks. Remember, a little bit goes a long way and if the ointment is not turning clear, there is too much. DO NOT apply ointment more than once per day. Too much moisture will result in poor retention.

  • You may shower normally, but use provided face shield to keep brows free from water. You will avoid water and using any soaps or cleansers on your brows for two weeks.

  • AVOID water, any kind of makeup, cleansers, moisturizer, oil and skincare products from the top of your forehead to the bottom of your brows for the next two weeks. This is absolutely crucial during healing.

  • DO NOT pick or scratch at the dry skin/flakiness; let the skin fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring and premature loss of pigment. IMPORTANT: once the flakes have fallen off, a shiny layer of healing skin will completely cover the new tattoo. It will appear as though your brows are gone. Within 2-3 weeks, your brows will slowly reappear at a lighter shade as your skin regenerates.

  • AVOID sweating (working out) for the first 5-7 days. Once you return to the gym clean your brows with warm water after each workout until day 14. Salt from your sweat will break down pigment and cause poor retention and pigment loss.

Healing phases.

Your new brows will go through many different phases while they are healing, here is what you can expect.

Day 1: Brows will appear slightly red and bold.

Day 2-4: Brows will appear darker as they oxidize and more bold

Day 5-7: Brows will start to flake and peel.

Day 8-10: Brows will appear patchy and very light as new skin regenerates. Don’t panic, color will return!

Day 14-28: Color will start to regenerate but may still look a little patchy and uneven.

Day 42-56: Time for your touch up!

Touch ups + Refreshers.

All cosmetic tattooing treatments are a two part process minimum. Those with little to no brow hair may need an additional session after the touch up, this is not uncommon. After your initial appointment, you will come back within 8-12 weeks for your touch up. Your 8 week touch up is a perfecting session where we tweak any areas that may need attention. We are able to add and layer for a more dimensional look. If you wait longer than 16 weeks to return for your 8 week touch up, you will be charged as a Refresher appointment.

Refreshers are for those who would like to maintain their brows long term. It is recommended that you return for a refresh between 2-4 years or when you’ve reached the point where your brows have little to no detail and are less than 40% of original healed tattoo. If you’ve had your brows tattooed at another studio, you must reach out for approval before booking. Please send a clear, well lit photo of your brows without any makeup on. Best way to take this selfie type photo is in a window that has lots of natural sunlight.

For best healed results.

Overall healed results will be largely dependent on how well you take care of your tattoo as it heals and once it has fully healed. It is critical you follow aftercare instructions given during your initial and touch up appointment. Failure to do so will result in poorly healed results. Your new tattoo will require continued care. Sun/UV exposure as well as anti-aging products and exfoliants directly used on your brows will lighten your tattoo and can alter color. It is important that you inform your skincare professional of your brow tattoo during any facials and laser appointments, they must stay away from that area.

Clients with oily skin, skin issues, autoimmune disorders, and iron deficiencies may see fading more quickly. Refresh appointments are necessary to maintain color and detail and should take place when color decreases to less than 40% of original healed color. This can typically take between 2-4 years.
