Setting the bar.
Gorgeous and natural looking lips that are the result of years of study and dedication to perfecting the Art of Lip Blush. Designed to enhance the unique beauty and shape of your lips, this technique will deliver a soft pop of color leaving you with luscious lips that look fuller and more rejuvenated. With long lasting results, you can expect your new lip color to last anywhere between 2-4 years before a refresh is needed.
Lip Blushing is a great solution to evening out color, balance slight asymmetry, and creating fullness with your newly defined shape. Providing soft definition with no harsh outlines, Lip Blush adds a subtle wash of color for a naturally refreshed look. If more saturation is desired, just say so! Opacity can range anywhere from a sheer tint to a lip stain depending on your preference. Custom colors are mixed for each person based on existing lip shade, skin color, and existing undertones. Neutralization will require a slightly different approach but still maintains beautiful end results.
Neutralization.
Dark Lip + Mild Neutralization is a specialized treatment for those with brown, cool or darker toned lips. The process of color theory is used to lighten and brighten the dark tissue within the lips to achieve a more neutral tone. Once a neutral tone is achieved, you will be able to move forward with the target color.
Each neutralization case is unique to the individual and their lip tone. For best results, you must follow appropriate color theory for your specific hue and undertones. Those who have deep, cool, melanin rich lips are unable to use pigments that contain any cool tones. Using cooler, darker colors will result in darkening the lips. It is important to understand that neutralization is a long process that will require patience. Overall time frame can be anywhere between 2-4 sessions before desired color is reached.
Appointment Walkthrough.
When you come in for an appointment, we always start with an in depth consultation where we discuss your goals, preferences, expectations and what we are able to offer you. We will go over shape, color, and what saturation level appeals to you. For Neutralization, we will discuss any skin conditions, medications, or hormonal disorders. We will discuss how your skin reacts to scratches or wounds and if your scarring is lighter or darker once healed. This will help understand how your body works and reacts to trauma.
After our consultation, we will choose a color together that is best complimentary to your natural lip hue. Using this method will give us the most blended and natural outcome, even if the color is more on the intense side. Once color has been chosen, the process for shaping will begin. We will start shaping by marking certain points on your lips to create a guide for where things should start, transition, and end. It is important to understand that tattooing cannot fix major asymmetry issues. It also cannot make your lips larger by tattooing outside of the vermillion border. Tattooing on actual facial skin will only result in an undesirable outcome, color works very differently between the lip tissue and lip skin. You will see more fullness with a more defined shape but the difference will not be significant. Clients with major asymmetry issues should find balance with the use of fillers first before receiving Lip Blush. After shaping is complete, you will be able to view the drawing for your input and thoughts. After reaching desired shaped, we will begin tattooing. You can expect the whole process to take between 3-4 hours for the initial appointment. Mandatory 8 week touch up is expected to be a shorter appointment and typically takes between 2-2.5 hours. Keep in mind that larger lips may require more time.
Healing your tattoo.
Taking proper care of your new tattoo during healing will greatly contribute to your overall healed results. Failure to follow aftercare during healing will result in poor retention and may result in needing additional touch ups at an additional charge. To ensure you have the best healed outcome, you must follow all pre-care and aftercare instructions given.
Plan your appointment accordingly, be sure to plan around any vacations, events, or filler appointments. You will not be able to use any lipsticks or lip glosses on your lips until lips have fully peeled. You must wait at minimum of 4 weeks after filler to receive Lip Blush.
Preparing for your appointment.
Lip fillers: If you’ve recently had fillers, you MUST wait at least one month before getting your lips tattooed.
Cold Sores: If you’ve ever had even ONE cold sore on the outside of your mouth or on your lips, you MUST take valtrex at least 3 days prior and 3 days after, getting your lips tattooed. If you don’t, lip tattooing will trigger and outbreak.
Moisturize! It is absolutely vital to make sure your lips are moisturized and well hydrated leading up to your appointment and day of your appointment. Dry, cracked and flaky lips will not heal well and will not be easy to tattoo. Drink plenty of water and moisturize lips day and night for the whole week leading up to your appointment. Upon booking, you will also be given the Lips Exfoliation Regimen in addition to full precare instructions that you must follow.
Pain is Minimal! Topical anesthetic is used to make you comfortable during the tattooing process.
What to expect after your appointment.
Lip Blush
Day 1: Color will be intense today. Your skin will start slowly releasing lymph fluid right after tattooing, this is a common healing process for our bodies. Two hours after the procedure gently wash the treated area with warm water and antibacterial soap, and gently dry it by using tapping movements. Repeat it after 2 hours. This will prevent scabbing from occuring. Before bed apply an additional layer of aquaphor to keep your lips hydrated throughout the night. The color will look the most vibrant today. Do not eat or drink anything that can stain your lips. No smoking of any kind.
Day 2: Your lips may still be swollen today. Make sure you keep them moisturized with Aquaphor through out the entire day. A thin, breathable layer is all you need. Too much moisturizer will fade the color.
Day 3 - 7: Keep moisturizing with Aquaphor as needed, multiple times a day is expected. Some light flaking or peeling may occur which is normal. Do not pick or peel the flakes or any dry skin on your lips.
Week 2-6: Your color may appear light at first. As you continue to heal, the color will bloom and become more visible. This is a two step process, any patchiness or light areas will be addressed at your second session.

Touch ups + Refreshers
All cosmetic tattooing treatments are a two part process minimum. Those requiring neutralization may need an additional sessions after the touch up, this is very common. After your initial appointment, you will come back within 8-12 weeks for your touch up, neutralization requires longer heal time in between appointments. Your 8 week touch up is a perfecting session where we tweak any areas that may need attention. If you wait longer than 16 weeks to return for your 8 week touch up, you will be charged as a Refresher appointment.
Refreshers are for those who would like to maintain their tattoo long term. It is recommended that you return for a refresh between 2-4 years or when you’ve reached the point where your lips have little to no color left or are less than 40% of original healed tattoo. If you’ve had your lips tattooed at another studio, you must reach out for approval before booking. Please send a clear, well lit photo of your lips without any makeup on. Best way to take this selfie type photo is in a window that has lots of natural sunlight.
For best healed results.
Overall healed results will be largely dependent on how well you take care of your tattoo as it heals and once it has fully healed. Your new tattoo will require continued care. Sun/UV exposure as well as anti-aging products and exfoliants directly used on your lips will lighten your tattoo and can alter color. It is important that you inform your skincare professional of your lip tattoo during any facials and laser appointments, they must stay away from that area.
Clients with oily skin, skin issues, autoimmune disorders, and iron deficiencies may see fading more quickly. Refresh appointments are necessary to maintain color and detail and should take place when color decreases to less than 40% of original healed color. This can typically take between 2-4 years.
