Appointment walkthrough.

When you come in for an appointment, we always start with an in depth consultation where we discuss your goals, preferences, expectations, and what we are able to offer you. We go over your preferred style, shape, color, and which technique may be best suited for your desired result. After the consultation, we will begin prepping your lids by thoroughly cleansing your lids to prevent any bacteria from entering your new tattoo. After cleansing, we will apply a small amount of topical anesthetic to the lid to ensure maximum comfort during the appointment. After numbing, we will begin to map out and draw the shape based on your preferences and your unique features and facial structure. Once desired shape has been reached, we will begin the tattooing process. While actively tattooing, your eyes will remain closed. During the tattooing process, you will find that the equipment used differs from typical tattoo machines. The machines used by cosmetic tattoo artists are incredibly quiet and much more gentle with very little vibration. Believe it or not, eyeliner is known to be the least painful out of all services! After we’ve finished tattooing, your eyes may look puffy and feel a bit heavy, this is totally normal and will usually subside in the next 12 - 24 hours.

The techniques.

Lash Enhancement

Also known as invisible eyeliner, is the most natural enhancement of all eyeliner techniques.

The Lash Enhancement is a simple, delicate line placed directly on the lash line that defines the eyes while simultaneously giving your lashes a fuller, darker, thicker appearance. This is great for those who prefer minimal to no makeup. Adding a subtle wing is also an option.

Smokey Eyeliner

Also known as Shaded Eyeliner. Shaded liner is a blended and diffused shadow effect on the lid + a wing that creates beautiful dimension. Making your eyelashes appear darker and fuller, your eyes will look more awake and open. The best part, it’s completely tailored to your preference. This technique can be super soft and natural or can be made to look more dramatic, the choice is yours!

Shaded Lash Enhancement

A Lash Enhancement with something a little extra! A Shaded Lash Enhancement is simply a Lash Enhancement with soft, fluffy shading at the top. This shadowy effect is designed to give the illusion of a smokey look without a wing.

Classic Eyeliner

Classic Eyeliner is going to be closest style to a liquid liner. Whether you prefer something thin and subtle or thicker and more dramatic, this technique is completely customizable to your preferred everyday look.

Healing your tattoo.

Taking proper care of your new eyeliner tattoo during healing will greatly contribute to your overall healed results. Failure to follow aftercare during healing will result in poor retention and may result in needing additional touch ups at an additional charge. To ensure you have the best healed outcome, you must follow all pre-care and aftercare instructions given.

Preparing for your appointment.

  • All false lashes must be removed at least 2 weeks prior to the appointment and cannot be put back on until 2 weeks after the touch up.

  • No lash serums for at least 8 weeks before.

  • No lash lifts/tints at least 2 weeks prior, and must wait 2 weeks after touch up.

  • No Blepharitis - eyelid infections

  • Any eye surgeries need to be healed for at least 6 months before receiving tattoo.

  • Any surgery on the actual eye itself will require a note from the doctor.

What to expect after your appointment.

Be prepared for a week of a mostly dry heal. You will need to avoid excessive water on your eyes. This means showers, swimming, baths, saunas. In addition, you will need to avoid wearing eye make up, moisturizers, etc.

You can expect your eyes to be slightly red and puffy right after your appointment. This will subside over the next day or two and should not affect normal daily activities.

Day 1: There may be some swelling and redness today, this is normal. Clients may apply a cold pack with a dry barrier to the eyes to help with discomfort.

Day 2: There may still be some swelling, but should lessen by the end of the day.

Day 3: Skin may feel dry. A very light, thin layer of coconut oil may be applied in the morning only.

Day 4 - 7: Continue to keep area dry and free of makeup and other products until peeling has finished.

You may experience some flaking or peeling, do not pick, scratch, or peel any of the tattooed area off. This can ultimately affect healing and result in pigment loss.

Following your aftercare properly is vital, failure to do so will result in poor healing.

Keep in mind that each persons body reacts and heals differently. Your tattoo will go through many different phases as its healing over the next 8 weeks. You can expect your tattoo to appear light at first. This is normal, your skin is regenerating on top of the tattoo and covering the visibility of the pigment. As your body begins to heal, the color will become more visible. You can expect to see true color around the 6 week mark. Please remember that this is a two step process. Any areas that appear lighter or patchy will be addressed at your 8 week touch up appointment. In some cases, additional sessions may be needed to achieve desired results.

Plan your appointment accordingly. Be sure to plan around any vacations and events. You will not be able to get your eyes wet for the first 6 days of healing.

Touch ups + Refreshers.

All cosmetic tattooing treatments are a two part process minimum. Those with thicker winged liner may need additional sessions after the touch up, this is common. After your initial appointment, you will come back within 8-12 weeks for your touch up. Your 8 week touch up is a perfecting session where we tweak any areas that may need attention. If you wait longer than 16 weeks to return for your 8 week touch up, you will be charged as a Refresher appointment.

Refreshers are for those who would like to maintain their tattoo long term. It is recommended that you return for a refresh between 3-5 years or when you’ve reached the point where your liner has lightened in color. If you’ve had your liner tattooed at another studio, you must reach out for approval before booking. Please send a clear, well lit photo of your eyes without any makeup on. Best way to take this selfie type photo is in a window that has lots of natural sunlight.

Healed results.

Overall healed results will be largely dependent on how well you take care of your tattoo as it heals and once it has fully healed. Your new tattoo will require continued care. Sun/UV exposure as well as anti-aging products and exfoliants used near your eye area can lighten your tattoo and alter color. It is important that you inform your skincare professional of your eyeliner tattoo during any facials and laser appointments, they must stay away from that area.

Clients with oily skin, skin issues, autoimmune disorders, and iron deficiencies may see fading more quickly. 2 yr + Refresher appointments are necessary to maintain color and detail.
